"Dust & Echoes"
This project documents Oklahoma as it gradually fades, capturing the legacy of Indian Territory, before it vanishes entirely. We stand at the precipice of a new America, whose shape and character remain uncertain. The past we remember was never without its flaws or injustices, and we need to see it honestly and clearly. Particularly for Native American communities, whose land these places stand on, whose suffering and survival are central to Oklahoma's story. Even as we romanticize the past, and our childhood, it's important to see it in both its pain and beauty. Once the past is gone, it vanishes forever. Whether what comes next will be better or worse is yet to be determined. In these images, I hope to record what endures. This project is both personal and historical, preserving the atmosphere of a fading past and honoring the complex histories of these places.
